To keep an eye on the arts with curiosity, joy, and heart. Each week, you’ll find arts spotlights, personal interviews with artists and leaders, event coverage, and original perspectives — along with our signature newsletter, Eye on the Arts, delivered right to your inbox.
We believe the arts are about more than just entertainment. It’s a way of connection, sparking empathy, and celebrating the human spirit.
After ten years away, Arts Perspective returns brighter and bolder than ever. The world has changed, and so has the way we engage with the arts. This relaunch is about more than just bringing back a magazine — it’s about creating a gathering space. A place where artists and audiences meet, where creativity gets the spotlight it deserves, and where culture is celebrated in all its forms.
Hi, I’m Denise Leslie — storyteller, ukulele strummer, arts cheerleader, and the not-so-quiet force behind Arts Perspective.
I’ve spent my career in the arts — first in marketing rock concerts, Broadway musicals, and festivals, and later working with arts organizations, nonprofits, and cultural projects through my company, Hideaway Arts Marketing. Along the way, I fell in love with storytelling and shining a spotlight on creative voices.
More than ten years ago, I bought Arts Perspective magazine and dove headfirst into publishing. I wore all the hats — publisher, editor, sales director, coffee runner — and I loved every messy, magical minute of it. Now, after a decade away, I’m bringing the magazine back because I believe we need spaces that celebrate beauty, creativity, and connection more than ever.
When I’m not writing or curating stories, you’ll probably find me teaching ukulele, leading a jam session, or enjoy live music in Durango, Colorado, where I live with my husband Charles and my lively Boston Terrier, Violet.
