I moved to Durango in 2021 from Telluride, Colorado, bringing with me more than a decade of gallery experience that began in 2010. Over the years, I’ve served as Gallery Director at Fringe Gallery (formerly Slate Gray Gallery), curated art for luxury restaurants and hotels, and in 2021 co-founded the Incubator for Emerging Artists in partnership with the Durango Creative District. Since 2024, I’ve managed Blue Rain Gallery’s Durango location. Alongside my work in the visual arts, I’m also a writer, actor, and musician currently working on an essay collection exploring the intersection of grief and personal development.
I’ve been writing stories for as long as I’ve been able to form full sentences. In fourth grade, my teacher encouraged me to write for the science fair instead of building a project. As a creative kid, I was thrilled to skip the volcano experiment and instead penned the first in a series of novellas, The Adventures of Mary Caldwell.
One of my favorite pastimes as a child was imagining myself as a pioneer on the Oregon Trail, so I wrote about a young girl making that journey. The story won first place that year, and my English teacher urged me to keep writing. That encouragement lit a spark that still guides me in the solitary practice of this medium. Writing has always been my compass—an act of faith and persistence. Just keep writing. The stories will come when they’re ready, as they always have.
